Cocktail Dress & Shoe Information

We don't want to seem like we are telling you what to wear, but sometimes you just do not know based on the way the wedding party is dressed and the location of the event. We believe for our wedding that "cocktail party" attire fits our event best, so we are just putting this out there to help you make some easy dress and suit decisions.

Definition: A cocktail dress is a semi-formal dress that is typically knee-length or slightly above or below the knee. It's designed to be elegant and suitable for events that are less formal than black-tie affairs but still require a polished appearance, like cocktail parties, evening functions, and weddings. Cocktail dresses often feature refined and stylish details, such as lace, sequins, or tailored silhouettes, allowing for a sophisticated yet fun and festive look. They are versatile enough to be paired with a variety of accessories and heels to create a complete and chic outfit.

When dressing for a wedding, cocktail attire strikes a perfect balance between formal and casual. Think of it as a step below black-tie but still polished and elegant. For women, this usually means a knee-length dress, perhaps with sophisticated embellishments, paired with elegant heels and accessories. For men, a dark suit and tie fit the bill, though a tuxedo isn’t required. Essentially, it’s about looking chic and festive without the full-on formalities of black-tie events.
